“SCARCITY” STAR

KRISTEN JOHNSTON

ON XM RADIO’S “DOWNSTAGE CENTER”

THIS WEEKEND

“Compulsively watchable. A gutsy cast.” – Associated Press

“One cannot say enough about the actors here, particularly Kristen Johnston and Michael T. Weiss. They have voices that were made for radio—sonorous and intimate, then funny and full of life—and they use them to express the inner lives of their rapidly disintegrating characters.” – The New Yorker

Emmy Award® winner Kristen Johnston (“Third Rock from the Sun”), now starring in Atlantic Theater Company’s world premiere production of SCARCITY, will be interviewed on The American Theatre Wing’s radio program “Downstage Center” on XM Radio’s “On Broadway” Chanel 28 beginning Friday, October 12th at 6:00 p.m. (EST).

The one-hour interview will re-air throughout the weekend on Saturday, October 13th at 12:00 p.m., Sunday, October 14th at 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday, October 16th at 9:00 p.m. (Pacific) and 12:00 midnight (EST). “Downstage Center” is a co-production of XM Satellite Radio and The American Theatre Wing, hosted by John von Soosten and American Theatre Wing Executive Director Howard Sherman.

Two time Emmy Award® winner and Atlantic Company Member Kristen Johnston is best known to television audiences for playing ‘Sally Soloman’ on the hit NBC series “3rd Rock from the Sun” for all six seasons. She returns to Atlantic, where she has also appeared in The Lights (Drama Desk Award® nomination), Rosemary for Remembrance and Five Very Live. She has appeared on the Broadway stage in The Women (Roundabout) and also in Twelfth Night, Much Ado About Nothing and The Skin of Our Teeth for the Public Theater’s New York Shakespeare Festival.

Atlantic Theater Company’s world premiere production of Lucy Thurber’s play SCARCITY, directed by Jackson Gay (The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow) began previews August 29th, officially opened September 20th and has been extended through Sunday, October 21st, 2007 Off-Broadway at Atlantic Theater Company at The Linda Gross Theater. (336 West 20th Street). The original limited engagement was scheduled through October 14th, 2007.

Weiss (NBC’s “The Pretender,” the feature film Jeffrey).

In this raw, emotionally rich world premiere new drama from playwright Lucy Thurber explores the stark reality of how class in America shapes our very image of ourselves.

SCARCITY plays Tuesday through Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 2pm & 8pm and Sundays at 3:00 p.m.
